In response to the BBC's innovative Stargazing live TV programmes, the Shropshire Astronomical Society ran several eveings of activities but was, alas, blessed with truly miserable weather. Despite that we had a good turn of members and the public and we did our best to encourage them in their interest in astronomy. We provided impartial practical advice on the types of 'scope to buy and those to avoid. 50-60 people turned up to pick our brains and share their enthusiasm. It was fun with several visitors turning up with their own scopes to ask questions of us.
