The pictures of the SAS trip to Edinburgh and to its royal Observatory, below, were taken by Mark Wiggin. A small, but perfectly formed, group of society members got together to spend a memorable couple of days in the city and visiting the observatory during its open day. Reports suggest everyone had fun visiting astronomically interesting places, taking in the architecture and, tis rumourerd, sipping the odd uiske beathe. The accounts received suggest they had quite a good time and were made very welcome at the observatory. Special thanks are extended to one time member Rachel Dowsett who arranged a glimpse behind the scenes and gave so many insights into the life of a professional astronomer.
