Research Opportunities
Summer Research Internships
The Cardiff gravitational physics group invites applications from motivated undergraduate students for Summer Internship Research Positions. Please see the the link below for information and application instructions.
PhD in Gravitational Waves
We accept applications for studentships all through the year. PhD projects normally start in October for which the applications must be submitted before the end of March of the same year.
Postdoctoral positions in Gravitational Wave Theory and Data Analysis
Cardiff Gravitational Physics is seeking applications from highly motivated and competitive candidates to fill one or more STFC- and EC-funded postdoctoral positions. You will have the opportunity to take part in the exciting search for gravitational waves in data from the most sensitive interferometers built to date -- LIGO, GEO600, and Virgo -- using state-of-the-art computational infrastructure. You will also have the opportunity to carry out research on the astrophysical sources of gravitational waves, the development of search algorithms for their detection and interpretation with current and future detectors, and to take part in the design study of the Einstein Telescope.
Computational Infrastructure Position
Cardiff Gravitational Physics is seeking applications from highly motivated postgraduate scientists to fill an STFC-funded computational infrastructure position. You will help to design, develop, deploy and support software infrastructure to further the data analysis efforts and scientific goals of the LIGO project. You will have a close connection with scientists conducting gravitational-wave data analysis and have the opportunity to make important contributions to the search for gravitational waves with LIGO. Your work will be recognised through authorship on all scientific publications of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration.
