Recruitment
PhD studentships
and post-doctoral positions are available
within the Photon-Mediated Phenomena Network.
The Photon-Mediated
Phenomena Network is a Research Training Network established
under the European Commission's Fifth Framework Programme. Started
in August 2002 and running for 4 years, the Network has a commitment
to training young researchers in semiconductor opto-electronics
and photonics. The Network is comprised of 7 teams from across Europe,
working in the following areas:
| Cardiff Team: |
Photon-mediated interactions of quantum dots & optics
of semiconductor microcavities. Theory
& Experiment |
Prof. A. L. Ivanov |
| Cambridge Team: |
Bose-Einstein condensation of microcavity polaritons &
optics of disordered semiconductors. Theory |
Prof. P. Littlewood |
| Grenoble Team: |
Optics of semiconductor microcavities. Experiment |
Dr. Le Si Dang |
| Paderborn Team: |
Fabrication of semiconductor nanostructures. Instrumentation |
Dr. D. Schikora |
| Dortmund Team: |
Photonic dots & semiconductor quantum dots. Experiment |
Prof. U. Woggon |
| Crete Team: |
Electronic and photonic characterisation of semiconductor
nanostructures. Instrumentation |
Prof. G. Kiriakidis |
| Lund Team: |
Optics of single quantum dots. Experiment
& Theory |
Dr. M-E. Pistol |
Appointment of young researchers within the Network is governed
by rules established by the European Commission under the Fifth
Framework Programme. Following are restrictions on who may be appointed:
- 35 years or younger:
- Must be 35 years or younger at the time of appointment. Allowance
is made for compulsory military or civil service, or child care.
- National or Member of Associated States or resided in Community
for at least 5 years immediately prior to appointment:
- Details of the Associated States are available from http://www.cordis.lu/fp5/management/particip/v-gfpbox4.htm.
- Not a national of country in which participant is based:
- Researchers cannot be a Member or National of the country in
which the team is based. For example, a person of French nationality
could be appointed to work with any team other than the Grenoble
team.
- Not carried out their normal activities in country in which
participant is based for >12 of previous 24 months:
- Similar to above, researchers cannot have lived in the country
in which the team is based for more than 1 year in the previous
2 years.
Below are details of the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral young researchers
