I will review the Swift gamma-ray burst mission, focussing on the wide range of scientific topics enabled by its unique combination of a multi-wavelength instrumentation implemented in a system optimised for rapid response. Swift also plays a significant role in chasing the electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave and neutrino alerts; I will describe Swift’s activities, and also future missions that may contribute in this area.
